ANAS OUTSTANDING TEACHER AWARD

Each year the Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science presents an award to an elementary, a middle school, and a senior high school teacher for outstanding accomplishments in the field of science education. If you have a dedicated teacher in your school whom you feel has contributed to science education, please consider nominating them for this award. Click [HERE] for the application form. All grants and scholarships awarded by the Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science are intended for the recipient only, and cannot be used for administrative or institutional services of any kind.

Persons submitting nominations must follow all rules of eligibility and submit appropriate documentation.
  • Any K-12 certificated or practicing Arizona or Nevada teacher may apply.
  • Teachers may be nominated by someone or they may nominate themselves.
  • Student teachers who have completed their student teaching experience and who adhere to all other rules of eligibility may apply.
  • The project topics are limited to the various fields of science promoted by the academy. (See list on ANAS Membership Application)
  • The nominee must have designed and implemented the lesson or unit within the last calendar year.

Lesson plans should not exceed 5 pages (single or double-spaced on one side only). Typed, ink jet, or laser print required. For activities, be sure to include information about how often you have used the activity, the grade level it is appropriate for, and techniques for assessing and managing the activity.

Do not submit multimedia such as videotapes, computer disks, photos, photo albums, or posters unless requested later. The author should retain the original. Submitted materials will not be returned.

All entries must be postmarked no later than January 31 of each year. Express mail or parcel service will be accepted if posted by deadline. Facsimile and other electronic entry forms will not be accepted. Membership in ANAS is not required for entry.
